Welcome to the Collaborative for Student Achievement at Colorado State. We were recently known as the Center for Advising and Student Achievement (CASA). Our purpose is to support student success.

 

A continuum of services is offered including Orientation and Transition Programs, Key Communities, Undeclared Student Advising, Health Professions Advising, Outreach and Support Programs, and Community for Excellence Scholar Programs.   We are accepting applications for an Advising Director position.

 

The Director of Advising is responsible for the large scale strategic visioning, supervision, administrative and budget oversight, designing programs, and evaluation of Undeclared student advising which averages (approximately 2700 students per year) and Health Profession Advising (25% of incoming freshmen express interest). The Director takes responsibility for building a positive culture around advising, developing and promoting effective advising practices guided by best practices, assessing learning outcomes and institutional data. Additionally, the Director supports unit growth and enrichment that align with the University’s Strategic Plan, diversity goals, Principles of Community, and Student Success Initiatives.

 

 

This position directly supervises two full time professional staff including an Associate Director of Undeclared Advising and an Assistant Director of Health Professions and the overall management of fifteen full time staff. The Associate Director supervises ten FTE Academic Success Coordinators, and the Assistant Director supervises three FTE advisers.

 

 

Student Achievement has been a leader for advising across campus for decades, reporting to both the VPUA and the VPSA, and is appointed to lead and maintain responsibility for a number of campus-wide programs and initiatives including leadership for campus-wide advisor training activities, advising at orientation programs, and the implementation of student success initiatives that promote student retention and graduation. The director also coordinates University Scholastic Standards and appeals procedures and serves on a wide variety of councils focusing on changes in policies and procedures that best serve undergraduate students.

 

 

The Director of Advising reports to the Executive Director of the Collaborative for Student Achievement and works closely with the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Affairs (VPUA) and the Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA). This is a full-year, full-time Administrative Professional position.
